OD Toolkit Series - DEI: From Status Quo to Transformation
Myisha T Hill Sarah Lightfoot
Many DEI initiatives support the status quo. It can be performative, box-checking, and not make substantive change. But when done right, it can support positive working conditions for people of the global majority. During this session we will discuss the elements that support organizations to activate DEI values into transformative and sustainable practices.
The deep partnership between Sarah & Myisha T Hill, author (latest book is Healing Our Way Forward), educator, and guide to people, leaders, and organizations healing from the interlocking systems of domination has yielded results for organizations that we'll bring to this community. Today, we do organization development together, and work as a Black woman (Myisha) and white woman (me) team to go from status quo to transformation of DEI .
We have created an interactive session that we'd like to share with the PODN membership. The session takes stock of the DEI field of today and names the elements necessary for sustainable transformational change. Our workshop includes case studies of successful DEI engagements for organization transformation, including trainings on building Communities of Care. In the course of our interactive workshop, we also support participants to consider their own contexts and leadership in DEI.
In this program, you will:
1. Understand the state of DEI today.
2. Understand the foundational elements necessary for sustainable change and transformative DEI practices in organizations.
3. Understand how an adaptive "Transformational Sprint" approach can support sustainable change in organizations.
