OD Partnership Series - I am Standing Up In a Divided World; Fiction to Facts

Jim Morris

This training will be conducted live via Zoom. The zoom meeting details will be sent out prior to the training.

This session is part of a new ongoing series offered in collaboration with the Oregon ODN.

With a commitment to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, our network extends this program to help internal practitioners and external consultants strengthen their understanding and help their clients impact real change.

In a divided climate, those of us who want to be instruments of change are finding responsibility in understanding what others understand so as to spend time with each other, love each other and have productive discussions.

What makes for safe ways to explore, be vulnerable, share and even persuade?

This STANDING UP FOR DEI&B interactive program will help you learn how to create your own strategies to effectively engage in dialogue where roadblocks occur that impact the advancement of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn what Critical Race Theory is and isn’t, how to speak to it

  • Shift from debating behaviors to being curious about others’ positions

  • Learn our sources of disconnection, our gaps

  • Connect, find common ground, and use your powers of persuasion

  • Share your opinions, in ways that can be heard, with those who have different viewpoints

  • Stand up for DEI (and change) while also bringing others along – those not yet there

  • Understand 7 Tips to Bridge the Gaps: Standing up for DEI and Building Authentic Connection
