JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion) through the Appreciative Lens: Co-creating a Social Justice Future
Faith Addicott
This training will be conducted live via Zoom. The zoom meeting details will be sent out 24hr prior to the training.
This meeting is for people in the network (and their friends!) to learn more about how Appreciative Inquiry can be used to frame conversations and actions around JEDI.
At this point in our collective journey, it is simply not enough to set goals around moving away from white supremacy and the patriarchal systems that have allowed inequity to thrive. We must have something to move TO, a clear vision of what is possible, and the capacity to see ourselves as agents capable of moving to that best possible future. AI helps us get there.
In this event, I would like to introduce this frame, and then have some experiential conversations about justice and equity using AI. Breakout into pairs to interview and explore in the AI frame, come back and have a rich dialogue about that experience, and brainstorm ways for this lens to be used in current projects or ongoing work around JEDI.
At the end of this session participants will gain:
- An understanding of basic Appreciative Inquiry techniques and potential uses.
- An understanding of the inherent value of inclusive process and practice for building system wide engagement, boosting employee retention, invigorating the work experience, and fostering organizations that can grow and thrive in diversity.
- Experiential knowledge of strengths-based practices and their value in complex environment
